Yes. Lodging in our fully restored 1902 Farmhouse is included in all of McVey’s packages. If additional nights before or after your rental period are unbooked, they are available for you to book at our standard Farmhouse rental fee ($300/night).

The 1902 Farm House is a 3-bedroom, 1 ½ bath home that has been fully renovated.
The house can sleep up to 6 adults in 3 queen beds, and a couple of kids or another adult if they’re comfortable on the couch. You are welcome to bring inflatable mattresses to sleep even more.
One bedroom is en suite with a ½ bath, and the other bedrooms share a full bathroom on the main floor.
All three rooms are set up with a super comfy queen bed (seriously, people comment on how comfortable the beds are), vintage dressing/makeup tables with mirror and ring light, and plenty of closet/armoire space for your dresses, tuxedos, and other clothes.
The fully setup kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals, make coffee, or enjoy some BBQ you make on the outdoor grill (also included) .

We prefer cash or checks, and require a post-dated check for the damage security deposit. We also understand that payment apps and credit cards are exceptionally convenient way to pay (and #points!). If cash or check is not an option for you, we accept credit card (through Stripe), Venmo or PayPal for no additional fee.
The Stripe platform also offers Klarna and Affirm to its users.

Most of our event bookings are made a year or more in advance. If an event cancels within the same year, that date is unlikely to be rebooked. The $1,000 booking retainer is non-refundable. If you cancel 12 months or more before the event, we will refund all payments except the retainer. Cancellations less than 12 months before the event will result in non-refundable payments. We know unexpected issues can arise, so we advise purchasing event cancellation insurance before booking to protect your money. Look for "Event Cancellation Insurance" online for options.

Upon signing the contract a non-refundable $1,000 booking retainer will be due to secure your date.
A refundable $500 security damage deposit check (post-dated to your event date) is required at the time of the contract signing. This deposit check will be used in the event of damage that requires repairs or broken items requiring replacement in excess of $50. You will be additionally responsible if damages exceed $500.
12 months prior to your event 50% of the remaining balance is due, with the final 50% due 30 days prior to your event.
Rather than creating a formal payment plan, we let you decide when you make your payments. You can make small payments over time, such as every two weeks or monthly, or as two lump sums described above, or a single payment.
Please make sure to include the bride and groom’s names and event date with your payment(s) so we can credit you properly.

We require all event renters to carry an "Event Insurance" policy with at least $1,000,000 coverage. McVey Homestead LLC should be listed as "additionally insured" on the policy and a copy of the complete policy should be emailed to McVey Homestead at the email address below.
(Info@McVeyHomesteadcom).
You can find these policies online by searching for "Event Insurance." Prices typically range from $150 to $400, depending on factors like serving alcohol, guest count, and planned activities. We also work with vendors who offer discounts to our couples and are happy to send their info your way.
While not required, we do strongly recommend event renters carry Event Cancellation insurance to help offset non-refundable expenses if your event plans change.
You can often combine Event Insurance and Event Cancellation Insurance with the same insurance provider.
Here are a couple of companies that we’ve worked with in the past.

While McVey Homestead is a rural space, we do have neighbors who are awesome humans who happen to live next door to a very popular wedding venue. As good community members, we allow amplified sound outdoors during the ceremony and for speaking to your guests during an outdoor meal or first dance.
All other amplified activities and music (aka “The Party Music”) must take place inside the Heritage Barn to reduce the impact on the nearby community. All types of amplified sound are to stop at 930pm Sunday through Thursday and 1030pm on Fri-Sat.
We understand that celebrations can be loud, but deliberate abuse or disregard of the amplified sound policy will result in the loss of this privilege for the remainder of your event.

Not only do we allow camping, we encourage folks to bring their RV and plug into one of the two 15 amp power outlets designed just for them. Additional RV campers may "boondock” or dry camp using generators for power. Tent campers are welcome as well and will be guided to dry camping areas on the property.
We love the idea of your friends and family sharing the entire experience with you — there is no extra fee for camping at McVey Homestead.
All campers are responsible to leave their campsite spotless, with no trash, debris, digging, fires other than the fire pit, or other damage.
Damage requiring repairs to the property or grounds by campers will be the financial responsibility of the renter and will be deducted from the rental security deposit.

If you are renting the venue, your dog is welcome under certain conditions. The most important being the health and safety of the dog, and comfort and safety of all guests and neighbors (human and animal).
All dog poop must be cleaned up immediately, regardless of the location, bagged, and disposed of properly in trash receptacles.
We require at least one dedicated adult dog handler (not someone in bridal party) who will be responsible to manage the dog’s needs during the ceremony, reception, and other gathering times.
Please note — McVey is not fully fenced and shares common outdoor areas with pastured livestock next door. It is imperative to the safety of your dog and our or our neighbors livestock that your dog is on a leash and never chases or harasses the livestock.
Any damage or injury to person or property caused by the pet will be the responsibility of the pet owner and/or renter.

In order to provide you with enough time to thoroughly experience the property and give you the undivided attention you deserve, we ask that tours and pre-event visits are pre-scheduled by emailing or calling the McVey team at:

We have a list of vendors curated based on the experiences and recommendations of the couples who’ve been married or had special events at McVey.
You are not required to use our vendors, and are free to use whomever you wish; we only ask that you connect them with us prior to your event so that we can provide them with our guidelines and answer any questions they may have about the property.
We have high expectations of ourselves when we host your wedding, and we hold our vendors to those same high expectations.
-
No.
Unlike many venues, we do not receive any sort of compensation from caterers, bar service companies, or other vendors on our preferred vendor list.
The vendors on our list are there because we, and the couples who’ve used them in the past, trust them to make your day magical. We trust them because we are familiar with their practices, and we know they provide excellent products, amazing service, and fair prices.
That said, you may book the vendors that suit your needs and budget. All we ask is to be introduced to them once you’ve made your choice. We can help them feel prepared and comfortable to be on the property and make your event as amazing as you deserve it to be.
